PBSC Featured Plants for Day 1 of Native Plants Class

These are for warm-up purposes and will overlap the featured plants from other field sites.

1. Wild Coffee

Psychotria nervosa (opposite leaves, with stipule, wrinkly veins)

2. Myrsine

Rapanea punctata (flowers and fruits along stem, leaves alternate)

3. Marlberry

Ardisia escallonioides (leaves alternate, flowers in large clusters at branch tips)

4. Pond Apple

Annona glabra (leaves leathery and alternate,  brown lopsided bud) 

5. Paurotis Palm

Acoelorraphe wrightii

6. White Stopper

Eugenia axillaris (skunky odor, pointed leaf tips) 

7. Spanish Stopper

Eugenia foetida (leaves opposite, tips round, lenticels inconspicuous as opposed to similar Florida Privet Foresteria segregata)

Zanthxylum fagara (leaves compound, with winged stalk, with translucent dots, stems thorny)
