Natural range:  Africa

Habitat:   With broad tolerances, weedy, stoloniferous

Florida status:  Introduced pasture species, widespread in Florida and in other states

Recognition:  Strongly stoloniferous. Leaf blade to 6 mm wide, the ligule 2-4 mm.  Rachis winged. Spikelets (2)3(4) mm, very hairy. Lower glume 0.2-0.5 mm; upper glume 2 mm.  Lower lemma with 1 central vein, the margins with 3 crowded hairy veins. 

Plants usually sterile.
