Natural range:  Very widespread, including the southern U.S.

Habitat: Weedy

Recognition: Leaf sheaths with papilla-based hairs.  Panicles with long narrow branches.  Spikelets 2-4 mm, with usually 2-5 flowers.  Often partially reddish.

Florida status:  Apparently native, weedy
