Recognition:  May exceed 1 m tall.  Foliage can be hairy, especially adaxially.  Leaves conduplicate (folded).  Spikelets mostly paired, 2.2-3.1 mm long.  Veins 3 + 3 (vs. 3 + 5-veined in P. laeve).   Racemes 4-6 (vs. 3-4 in P. laeve).

Paspalum floridanum is similar but its leaves are flat (not conduplicate),  the spikelets are larger (ca. 3-4 mm), and there are 5 veins in the glume.
