Habitat:  Beaches, brackish shores (infrequently in fresh water)

Florida status:   Native

Recognition:  Grass of beaches and salty places.  Spikes forming a Y, or with more than 2 axes, briefly pedunculate.  Spikelets lanceolate or boat-shaped.  Ligule with a band of long cilia behind a membrane.
