Recognition:
May stand
a meter tall, and may root at lower nodes. Spikelets 2.9-3.8 mm, paired,
acuminate (narrow abruptly to a characteristic pointy tip). Lower glume multi-veined (vs. U. mutica). Leaf blades to 2 cm wide,
with auriculate bases. Nodes glabrous (vs. U. mutica and U.
ramosa).
