(Linnaeus) Roemer & Schultes Distribution: Canada to South America and much beyond, Old World Habitat: Varied moist sites, including saline sites Recognition: Spikelet much greater in diameter than the stiff culm. Resembles E. flavescens but in E. geniculata the achene is black (vs. brown), the tubercle is broader than tall, and rhizomes are not present. Florida status: Common
