Distribution: Widespread in North America

Habitat:  Muddy and silty open wet places, locally in deep water strand swamp

Recognition:  Spikelets very long: 10-15 mm.  Similar to the common R. inundata but this with the bristles longer than the achene (vs. much shorter).

Florida status:   Apparently rare in our area---see habitat above
