Distribution: Southern U.S., Caribbean

Habitat: Diverse wet sunny places, marshes, shores

Recognition:  Achene longitudinally ribbed like a pumpkin, with a basal concavity on each of three sides (but no glands in the concavity, as opposed to the similar S. georgiana)

Florida status: Native, common
